Restaurant Review: Made in Brasil Boteco
Made in Brasil Boteco is situated near the bustling hub of Camden Market. Set over three floors, it is an ideal destination on a summer’s evening as it has a rooftop seating area so you can sit back and enjoy the sunset while soaking up the lively Latino atmosphere. We visited Made in Brasil Boteco on a bright but chilly evening and opted for the indoor dining area on the middle floor.
As this is a Brazilian bar, it wasn’t surprising to find caipirinhas and caipiroskas on the menu, available not only in their classic form but also in a whole range of fruity varieties, along with other traditional cocktails and beers. I would recommend the passion fruit caipirinha to anyone who, like me, has a sweet tooth.
We decided to try out dishes from the petiscos (sharing) menu so that we could sample a range of traditional Brazilian fare. We chose a mix of seafood and meat dishes, with our favourites being the creamed pumpkin filled with tiger prawns and the bolinho de carne seca, salt beef balls served with chilli mayonnaise. For dessert we opted for a passion fruit cheesecake to share, which was dressed with a delicious sweet puree. There is also an à la carte menu featuring a range of reasonably priced dishes, with mains setting you back £11–£15.
The service was friendly and flawless; our waiter Jose made some helpful suggestions when we were choosing our petiscos, and the dishes kept arriving at a reasonable pace so that we didn’t feel too rushed.
We enjoyed our visit to Made in Brasil Boteco and would recommend it to people seeking an affordable, lively and informal atmosphere for a date.
