Restaurant Review: Paris House
For the perfect relaxing, luxury weekend, why not whisk your date away for an unforgettable dining experience at Paris House? Hidden behind a grand gated entrance and at the end of a sweeping, tree-lined driveway you will find a beautiful and exclusive dining venue where culinary delights take centre stage.
The chef’s table at this Michelin-starred restaurant takes you not just to the front-row seats of an amazing gastronomic performance, but to the very heart of this family-run business. With an average age of 22, the young, enthusiastic and dedicated kitchen staff set the scene as your six-course meal unfolds before your eyes.
The courses are choreographed and presented before you with the skill of a theatre performance, and it’s not just this display that is impressive but the wonderful fusion of flavours. The food is an exciting mixture of internationally themed dishes concocted from unusual ingredients found locally. The Chinese deer (yes, local) was stunning, and in the evening as the sun sets, you can even watch the braver specimens exploring the grounds surrounding Paris House.
During intervals between the beautiful courses, we had the pleasure of learning what drives this team to deliver such an unbelievable all-round experience. It’s the values instilled in them: friendly, warm, professional and elegant. An environment has been created in which the owner and his family can be found laughing and enjoying the atmosphere. The young sommelier, Matt – a home-grown talent – highlights Paris House’s desire not just to provide great service, but to give young people the chance to be part of an incredible team.
In all weathers the setting would be a delight; frosted, enchanting trees in the winter, or summer on the terrace with a marmalade cosmopolitan. You can head to the Sculpture Gallery at Woburn Abbey or the safari park up the road, or wander around the beautiful village for antiques and local pubs where dogs and ramblers are welcome. Given the opportunity, you could stay at the Woburn Hotel – one mile down the road – and upgrade to the executive cottages for a real treat. Paris House is a truly special experience for that special one in your life.
